DUDE! WHERE'S MY CAR???

Google Maps was (is) pretty kick ass, but GOOGLE EARTH is amazing!!!!

Have you seen it?? You have to download the software but its well worth it.

I was able to zoom into my old house in Texas where my car was parked when the sat photo was taken.

AVOIDING THE WAR ZONE

Well, under sunny 75 degree San Diego skies, I can't say as I'm missing Texas so much this week. Looks like the brunt of the storm will miss the Houston/Galveston area, which is good - for more reasons than because I have a household of things in a storage unit there (storage units are about as sound as a cardboard box in a big storm - kind of like trailers), but because my friends are all going to be okay. Many of them have called me, in traffic, to let me know they were having fun sitting for 12 to 14 hours only to move 10 or so miles.

On the down side, it does look like the storm is going to hit Lake Charles, which is where my brother lives. He and wife and the dogs (including mine, Scruffs!) are safely north of the storm, but I hope their house fares well.

As Ricky pointed out, I'm sure the liberals will be blaming the president for not allocating enough federal money to build a 25 lane highway when they KNEW this storm would be coming. Its all the governments fault!!! Those supremist bastards and their special interests! Seriously, I've tried to stay quiet, but I'm getting pretty sick of people blaming Dubya for everything they aren't satisfied with in this country. How 'bout a little personal responsibility people!!!! Bush hating might be trendy, but its bullshit.

That's all I have to say about that.

In other news, I've found something I'm REALLY excited about, and just in time! The downtown Hooters is the sponsor of the local UT fan club. UT fans meet there for every game and Hooters not only offers 20% off for UT fans, but also opens early, if needed, for Longhorns games. Unfortunately this is a bye weekend for the 'Horns, but next Saturday IT'S ON!!! I'm now a card-carrying member of the Hooters' Longhorn Club! "Team America... Fuck yeah!!!"

KatrinaRita

The new novelty drink for the French Quarter in New Orleans, assuming it really ever Re-opens.

Oh, and if anyone really does name a drink after this - they'll have to pay me, because I'm the genius who coined it!! You all are my witnesses!!

Anyone have any ideas about what should go into it??? This could be fun.

CRAZY WEEK ITS BEEN

Since I can't seem to squeez out an interesting post - thought I might just ramble a bit.....

Made way too late of a night (till mid morning) on Friday, which killed me for the rest of the weekend. I don't know why I make silly decisions like that, knowing the consequences. Had a dinner party on Sunday, which isn't abnormal - and other than that, I spent most of the weekend watching football(Hook 'em Horns!!) and baseball. This week has been extremely busy - hired a new assistant (She starts on Monday) and got a new laptop, which seemed exciting at the time, but when it takes the better part of the day to figure out how to transfer files over and get it running right on the network, its not so fun. Now my big challenge is getting my iPod and iTunes to run on it correctly, which isn't going so well...

Usually by this time in the week, I'm really craving a little happy hour action. I'm not. I think I'm still wrecked from the weekend. Maybe tomorrow night, I don't know. I have to stop abusing myself on the weekends and make myself stick to a 3am curfew.

I really need to get involved in something outside of work - I wish I could go back to firefighting, but they don't exactly have any volunteer or paid-per-call departments around here. Maybe I'll join a soccer team. Or maybe I'll just be lame and hang out at Border's. Nah, I'm too antsy. Gotta do something! Any ideas?

BOLLOCKS

I've got a lot of British friends. I also used to work around a bunch of Brits. Its a funny thing I've noticed about Americans hanging with Brits: They start using Brit lingo like "Bloody" and "Brilliant"; etc. And sentence structure with regard to enunciation changes. Instead of saying "How are YOU?" its "How AAARE you?" Myself included. Goofy.

SORRY I'VE BEEN SO LAME

I've been so busy since getting back from vacation, just trying to get caught up. Also, I'm in the middle of hiring a new assistant and have spent a lot of time setting things up, going over resumes and the rest of the routine. Interviews start tomorrow and I think I'm ready.

Weekend was pretty good. UT barely squeeked out a win over Ohio. Awesome game, but a stressful one too. Thats just the way they roll though. Other than that, it was business as usual - went out, got shitty, had afterparty at the house. Actually, I was pretty low key on Saturday because I was hurting from Friday. I wasn't even going to do anything - but about 11:30, I was guilted into going out for a couple (few), but wasn't real good company, I'm sure. Then got home and some of my buddies from the girly bar next door came over to visit for a while.

Today was hectic, but the funny thing is that for most people I know, its been hell. Is there a full moon or something?? I know, its got to be the solar flares erupting right now, right?

Thats all I got.

I'M BAAAACK!!!

Hey everyone!! Just got back yesterday morning and went straight to the pub where I proceeded to get lit. Good times.

I actually thought I was coming back on Sunday - I'm sure thats what the travel agent told me and I planned everything that way. It wasn't until I got to the airport at 0630 on Sunday morning and waited in line for an hour to have the ticketing agent tell me I was a day early that I realized I was a dumbass. Actually, I realized it long ago - this was just one of a series of confirmations of that point.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be back and I had a great time. I'll post more later, but for now I've got a lot to catching up to do.
